As part of the Hearings Department you will support and provide full service to SSSC hearings held under our Fitness to Practise Rules (the Rules).
You will also provide support to the wider functions of the department.
You will:
- clerk fitness to practise hearings
- make sure the hearings run smoothly and in line with the Rules
- attend, support and organise case management meetings by issuing papers, recording and issuing decisions and directions
- provide support for hearings including scheduling and, collecting, checking and sending out documents to the relevant people
- manage postponement requests by liaising with the relevant people and the Panel chair
- support people who are attending hearings (eg workers, their supporters and witnesses), for example by providing practical assistance, explaining the process and directing them to the Rules and hearing information
- carry out the above work using our Case Management System
- liaise with Panel Members, solicitors and others involved in the process.
To do this, it is essential that you:
- have experience in organising meetings, including preparing agendas, reports and minutes
- can manage a busy workload and respond to complex instructions
- have effective administrative, organisational and time management skills
- can work on your own initiative
- are accurate, with an eye for detail
- enjoy working in a team as well as independently.
