Our organisational structure

Our Council

The Council oversees the organisation. The Council is made up of a Convener and nine members who are appointed by Scottish Ministers. The Council has several committees such as Audit and Assurance and Fitness to Practise which develop rules and policies and overview procedures. For more information visit the Council and committees page.

We have four directorates to deliver our business functions. We also share some corporate services with the Care Inspectorate, such as human resources, procurement, finance, estates and health and safety.

Regulation

Regulation brings together registration, fitness to practise and hearings as one unified process. The Directorate is here to protect the public and the safety and welfare of people who use services.

The Regulatory Improvement and Hearings Department provide and administer hearings where Fitness to Practise Panels make decisions about a worker’s fitness to practise.

The Finance and Resources Directorate includes Organisational Development and Legal and Corporate Governance.

The Finance and Resources Directorate leads the delivery of the People Strategy 2021-2024.
