We’ve set up a new part of our Register for Temporary Social Workers under the Coronavirus Act 2020. 

This Register aims to support social workers to return to practice as quickly as possible to enable them to provide vital support to the sector during this emergency if they can.    

People who can apply for registration are: 

  • social workers who left the Register in the last five years 
  • final year social work students (graduating in 2020) who have completed 75% of their practice placements and reached the required academic standard.

The application process is quick and there is no fee for joining this part of the Register. A Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership is mandatory for registration. We will carry out a PVG check for you and we will also pay the fee.  

We have contacted eligible social workers and students to invite them to apply. 

If you haven’t heard from us or your contact details have changed since you were last registered and you meet the criteria you can apply to register on MySSSC. You can log into your existing account or create a new one.  

Once you are registered, we will get back in touch with information about potential roles in your area. We are working with partners to do this.  

We’re also working with partner organisations to find the best way to match the people on our Register with the service that needs them.
