Finding a job

The SSSC does not hold information on social care job vacancies, however there are a number of places to begin your search for a job. Your local paper is a good place to start, find out when your local paper advertises and check it weekly.

Career fairs are also a great way of finding work and will allow you to meet your potential employers face to face. Joining a recruitment agency is also an effective way of getting a position.

Modern apprenticeships

A modern apprenticeship is a great way to start or develop your career. Not only do you learn while working, you gain a qualification too.

Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 or over. If you're over 25 you can still apply but your employer may have to pay for the cost of training, depending on the sector and apprenticeship selected.

The SSSC has frameworks at both modern and technical levels. All the frameworks are mapped to the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) and accredited by an awarding body.
