Preparing for Practice - induction guidance for employers

The Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC), in collaboration with employers and other stakeholders, has developed Preparing for Practice – a national induction framework for the Scottish social service sector. This is in response to the National Strategy for the Development of the Social Services Workforce in Scotland – A Plan for Action 2005-2010.

Preparing for Practice was produced to offer some general guidance regarding staff induction for the sector. It is best viewed as a place to start in constructing your own induction arrangements and seeks to highlight the keys areas that induction should address. The guidance also directs readers to additional sources of advice and resources that can be used.

You can access the full induction guidance by downloading the following link: Preparing for Practice

A useful summary of the Preparing for Practice guidance and how it can help employers, is available from the SSSC in hard copy format or by downloading it from the following link:  Preparing for Practice summary leaflet
