Your success is something to shout about

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is calling for organisations that provide social services across the country to enter this year's prestigious Care Accolades

Your success is something to shout about

The SSSC today launches Care Accolades 2010, the awards for social service organisations across Scotland. Organisations have until 26 February to get their entries in for Scotland's prestigious national awards that recognise the vital role of social services and the workforce in all of our lives.

Social services touch all of us at some point and the people who work in services from nursery workers to adult care home workers, make a real difference to people's lives.

We know that social service workers go that extra mile, committed to making a real difference and make other people's world a better place to live in. It is this work that we want to shout about!

The SSSC is calling for all organisations, large or small, public, private or voluntary that provide social services across the country to enter this year's prestigious Care Accolades.

Each submission must provide evidence of:

  • what the initiative/project set out to achieve
  • evidence of either the impact of the project/initiative or evidence of the innovative nature of the project for the sector
  • how this was achieved and what are the benefits
  • how the initiative is benefiting people who use services
  • how people who use services are involved
  • evidence of its success through evaluation
  • how equality of opportunity and diversity are ensured
  • how the principles of the SSSC's Codes of Practice are reflected.

Garry Coutts, chair of the 2010 Care Accolades judging panel said, "The Care Accolades gives organisations the chance for social service organisations to show off the brilliant work they do."

"Previous winning projects highlight the difference good practices can make to people who use services. These include East Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) who gave people the chance to gain qualifications in health care and Cornerstone Forensic Services in Aberdeen who helped adults with learning disabilities get stability back in their lives."

This year's winners will be announced at the award ceremony and event on 11 June 2010 at The MacDonald Hotel, Aviemore.
