Who's through to the finals for the Care Accolades 2010?

The innovation and dedication of social service workers and their organisations in Scotland is being recognised as the finalists for the Care Accolades 2010, the ‘Oscars' for the social services sector are announced.
This year's finalists highlight just how diverse social services in Scotland needs to be, covering everything from tackling gang culture in our communities to helping young people into successful careers. Each of these projects illustrates the challenges of providing social services and the difference their success makes to our communities.
Now in its seventh year, the Care Accolades, organised by the SSSC in partnership with the Scottish Government showcases the excellent work happening in social services across Scotland. This year's finalists include organisations from the voluntary, private and local authority.
The finalists will find out who has won at the award-winning Care Accolades lunch and award ceremony presented by Radio Scotland host Kaye Adams on the 11 June 2010 at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort.
Garry Coutts, chair of the Care Accolades 2010 judging panel said:
‘The judges are delighted with the range and level of entries to the Care Accolades this year. Everyone who entered deserves to be honoured.
‘The Care Accolades offers real recognition for those organisations delivering vital services to people in communities across Scotland every day. This is a great chance to hear about the good work happening in social services and it was terrific to have so many excellent entries.'

The Care Accolades was launched in 2004 to celebrate and promote good practice in workforce development in social services across Scotland.
The Care Accolades is a joint initiative by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and the Scottish Government. The Care Accolades 2010 rewards outstanding examples of excellent initiatives and projects within social services in Scotland.

The awards ceremony highlights and promotes good practice and innovation in social services and Care Accolades are awarded to outstanding organisations who:
• have developed creative and innovative learning and development programmes for staff
• provide examples of excellence in partnership working
• have worked with their local communities on engagement
• have gone that extra bit to provide excellent services that make a real difference to the lives of individuals, families and communities.
