Updated Guidance for Voluntary Sector Development Fund (VSDF) 2010-11

Two sections of the guidance notes for this year's Voluntary Sector Development Fund have been amended.

1. Categories of staff eligible

The Voluntary Sector Development Fund will provide a further £1m a year over the financial year 2010 - 11. The priority for this year will be to assist the funding of the SSSC's required registration qualifications requirements, specifically for:

  • all residential childcare workers
  • all workers in care home services for adults
  • managers of day care services for adults.

Applications for funding for qualifications for housing support managers and care at home managers will also be considered.

2. Final agreed list of qualifications to be funded

Maximum contribution to funding each qualification will be as follows based on an examination of the costs associated with previous years' applications:

  • SVQ2 - £1,000
  • SVQ3 - £1,500
  • SVQ4 - £2,000
  • Leadership and Management for care services (previously RMA) - £2,000
  • HNC - £1,400
  • PDA in Supervisory Management - £ 300
  • Top Up / Supervisory SVQ Units - £ 250 per unit

Applications should be received in Children, Young People and Social Care - Workforce and Capacity Division, Scottish Government, by 5pm on Friday 3 September 2010

The VSDF application forms and guidance notes are available on the Voluntary Sector Social Services Workforce Unit website

I\'ve been searching for funding to help us have our Sheltered Housing Scheme Managers achieve their VQ2 in Health and Social Care.

Can you please advise how I might find help with this.

Grateful thanks,

Sheila James
