The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is calling for organisations that provide social services across the country to enter this year's Care Accolades to be in with a chance of winning one of these prestigious social care awards. The SSSC is looking for entries from all social service organisations across the whole range of provision in the voluntary, private and public sectors including community services, care home services, early years, children and young people and older people services.
Launched in November, the Care Accolades 2012, Scotland's only national award ceremony for the whole of the social care sector gives organisations the chance to get recognition of the vital work they do. The closing date for entries is Monday 13 February 2012.
Care Accolades began in 2004 and the award ceremony has been held in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Paisley. This year's venue is Perth Concert Hall, Perth with the event taking place on Friday 22 June 2012.
Keith Chalmers, Glasgow City Council, Addiction Service whose Persistent Offender Project were winners in 2011 said:
"Reaching the final was a wonderful achievement in itself, but to have won is fantastic. This is great recognition for many years of hard work and development from a multi-disciplinary team. The team and partner organisations, Glasgow Addiction Service and Strathclyde Police are delighted with the award."
Four new categories have been announced this year. These include – Innovation and Redesign, Personalisation, Leadership and One to Watch.
Anna Fowlie, Chief Executive of the SSSC said:
"This is an opportunity for organisations to show off the work they do and give teams and workers a real boost. The new categories highlight the need for organisations to become more effective or efficient in how they run their services.
"We want to hear from services who realise the importance of good leadership at all levels and have initiatives to empower, give choice and control for people using their service. It's your chance to blow your own trumpet and help people to see the real difference that this vital work makes. Winning an award, or making the shortlist, puts you and your work in the spotlight, generating interest and raising the morale of your team and service."
