Making virtual training a reality

psp

Keith Quinn, Senior Education and Workforce Development Advisor at the SSSC, speaks to UKAuthorITy about the SSSC's award winning reality training model which uses games consoles to improve learning retention among social services staff.

The e-learning model uses Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) consoles to give on-the-spot training and was developed by the SSSC in a pilot with Glasgow City Council's social services department. As part of the initiative, the PSPs use barcode icons (similar to QR codes) either in workbooks or stuck to the physical environment, such as on a medicine cabinet, to trigger training videos on the PSP screen.

FAO - Keith Quinn: pilot idea looks great, looking forward to getting started.
Currently doing PDA Management & Leadership and some of the info on the powerpoint presentation could be useful for next assignment; any chance we could get a copy please? If you don't want to pass the entire session, what would be helpful in particular is the statistical information and graph.

Regards,
Karen Waddell
