The SSSC is currently developing a Leadership Pathways online learning application to support leadership development at all levels in social services. The pathways tool will be piloted in the new year, and will be available from the SSSC website in spring 2012.
This web-based application will make links to existing leadership development resources and provides advice and guidance about how to use them to best effect. There will be four pathways, one each for:
- front-line staff
- managers
- corporate and strategic leaders eg elected members, members of management boards
- people who use services and carers.
You will be able to navigate leadership development resources via the pathways in order to develop your leadership knowledge, skills and capability appropriate to your position, role, level of responsibility and leadership aspirations and learning needs. The vision for leadership in Scotland's social services is for leadership to be developed at all levels in order to improve outcomes for people who use services and carers, with citizen leadership as an integral part of this vision.
We'd like to thank the Leadership Reference Pool, which is made up of individuals from across the social services sector, for their ongoing help and advice in developing the pathways tool.
The SSSC project team is identifying the list of resources to be included. Do you have a particularly useful leadership resource that you've come across that you think others would find useful and you could recommend to us to include in the pathways? If so, please email details to jess.alexander@sssc.uk.com with a short note about how you've used it.
If you would like to find out more about the leadership and management project, please contact Jess Alexander by email or phone 07920 088985.
