Time is running out for people who use services and their families to nominate social service workers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Over 198,000 social service workers in Scotland provide care and support to some of the most vulnerable sections of our society. People who use services and members of the public can nominate workers for the Outstanding contribution to care award, part of the Care Accolades 2010.
This is your chance to recognise the unsung heroes of social services in Scotland. Whether they work in a voluntary, private or local authority social service such as a nursery, care home, in the community, take a few moments to nominate the person who deserves a ‘thank you'.
Minister for Children and Early Years Adam Ingram said:
‘Social service workers make a big difference to people's lives. The Care Accolades is an opportunity for people in the private, public and voluntary social service sector to be recognised for some of the superb and innovative work they do every day, delivering some of the most important services to people in communities across Scotland. I am particularly pleased that there is an opportunity for an individual social service worker to be recognised at this year's ceremony.'
Anna Fowlie, Chief Executive of the SSSC said:
‘Social service workers do a fantastic job but there are many who go above and beyond their day job showing passion and initiative to make sure people who use services receive the care they need.
‘The Outstanding contribution to care award was set up to recognise exceptional social service workers and gives people who use services and their families the chance to nominate social service workers who deserve recognition for their excellent work.'
The nominations are open until the 30 April 2010 for people who use services to put forward their social service workers for the award. The winner and nominee will be invited to the Care Accolades 2010 award ceremony hosted by Kaye Adams on 11 June at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort.
You can download an entry form from the SSSC website or email: enquiries@sssc.uk.com or telephone: 0845 60 30 891 for more information. The closing date for entries is 30 April 2010.
