All managers of day care of children services required to get a level 9 Childhood Practice award

early-years-john-birdsall

From today (1 December 2011) all managers of day care of children services will be required to obtain a level 9 Childhood Practice award.

The Childhood Practice award is the first degree level qualification which gives professional recognition to people working in the early years sector.  Managers new to register with the SSSC and managers who come to re-register must meet the Childhood Practice award requirement.

Launched in 2008, the innovative Childhood Practice award is one of the first work-based degrees in Scotland where entry is based on vocational qualifications (SVQs) and the experience people have gained in their career to date.

Traditionally, the early years and child care workforce has been under qualified and under-valued.  Until now.
