Who Cares? Scotland's Speak out magazine
The SSSC has been working in partnership with Who Cares? Scotland producing a special SSSC edition of Speak out magazine. This edition is aimed at providing information on the Codes of Practice.
Update on changes for Disclosure Scotland checks when registering with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
From 1 October 2009 all social service workers (apart from social work students, self-employed social workers and unemployed social workers) will no longer be required to undergo a criminal records check when applying or renewing their registration with the SSSC.
Child care apprenticeships
An additional 170 early years apprenticeships are to be created across Scotland, giving young people access to child care careers.
Registration of managers of care at home services
Scottish Ministers have announced that managers of care at home services will be included in the scope of registration with the SSSC. The SSSC will consult with the sector in the autumn regarding the qualifications for managers of care at home services.
Additional adult apprenticeships announced for the sector
The Education and Lifelong Learning Secretary Fiona Hyslop has announced that Modern Apprenticeships in adult health and social care will be more than doubled by opening them to all ages of applicants. Modern Apprenticeships offer people aged over 16 the chance of paid employment linked with the opportunity to train for jobs at craft, technician and management level.
