Director of Sector Development

Up to £64k per annum

This is a significant opportunity to inform and influence the future shape of social work and social care in Scotland. We work to raise standards and protect the public through regulation, innovation and continuous improvement in workforce planning and development for the social service workforce.

In this high profile role you will lead our new Sector Development department which brings together three of our key functions - Registration, Regulation of Education and Training and Workforce Development and Planning. A registered social worker with a creative approach, you will be an experienced senior manager committed to championing innovation and engagement. Providing strategic direction and leadership, you will optimise and drive performance with an outcomes-focused approach and a commitment to continuous performance at the very heart of the Organisation.

You will promote a collaborative, open and responsive and customer focused ethos building strong partnerships with a wide range of internal and external partners, you will proactively identify opportunities to enhance workforce regulation, development and education across the sector as well as representing the SSSC nationally and at UK level on a range of regulatory and skills issues.

A qualified, registered social worker with an excellent track record in the sector, your experience will encompasses senior management, learning and development, budget management and the delivery of successful change programmes. Your operational knowledge of the sector is complemented by an understanding of the Scottish political and legislative context, major developments in social policy, and workforce regulation.

An inspirational leader with high levels of personal integrity and credibility, you combine excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills with a flair for building collaborative partnerships. Committed to innovation, you have a proven ability to produce practical, creative solutions to ensure strategic and operational objectives are achieved.
