Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL)

What is Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL)?

Everyone who is registered with the SSSC has to meet PRTL requirements.  This is to ensure their continued suitability for registration.

PRTL for Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW)

NQSWs must meet their personal and professional responsibility for maintaining and developing their social work knowledge, skills and values and their employers have a key role in supporting them in meeting this responsibility.

PRTL for Social Workers

The SSSC Code of Practice for Social Service Workers requires workers to take responsibility for maintaining and improving their knowledge and skills.  The PRTL requirements set out for social workers ensure that all registered social workers undertake a minimum amount of training and learning within each registration period.  It is expected that this training and learning will contribute to your professional development, inform your practice and assist you to meet your roles and responsibilities in an informed, competent and confident manner.
