| Registration of workers in school care accommodation services |
The SSSC will begin registering the following groups of workers:
Workers with supervisory responsibilities and all other workers in school care accommodation services will register in 2010 after managers. More detailed timescales will be available in 2010. When the Care Commission inspects your service they will check to see if workers are registered and if the service has a training plan in place. To register a worker must satisfy the criteria for registration. This includes holding the appropriate qualifications for the job they do and being able to evidence good character. Applicants for registration who do not hold the required qualifications may, if they meet all the other eligibility criteria for registration eg evidence of ‘good character’, be granted registration subject to the condition that they achieve the required qualifications within a specified period which will normally be three years when they apply for re-registration. Find out about the qualification criteria for registrants.
