Renewal of registration for social workers

Every worker registered with the SSSC is required to renew their registration before their period of registration expires. The table below indicates the usual registration period applied to each worker.

Social Worker who gained their qualification before 1 April 2006 three years three years
*Newly Qualified Social Worker – working full time (35 hours per week or more) 18 months three years
*Newly Qualified Social Worker – working part time (less than 35 hours per week) 24 months three years

 

*For the purposes of registration, newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) are those who have been awarded the Diploma in Social Work (DipSW) or a new undergraduate or postgraduate social work degree after 1 April 2006.

 

Around two months before a period of registration expires, the SSSC will write to the Registrant to advise them that they are required to renew their registration.
