Working with People with Complex Physical Care Needs

 

Who is it for?

This skills set is for staff working with individuals with more complex physical/personal care needs and groups together the skill areas to support competent practice in this area.

List of Skill Areas & Knowledge

Staff should select and complete 3 units from the following list. Unit selection should be based on job role and candidate need.
HSC 214 Help individuals to eat and drink
HSC 215 Help individuals to keep mobile
HSC 216 Help address the physical comfort needs of individuals
HSC 217 Undertake agreed pressure area care
HSC 219 Support individuals to manage continence
HSC 221 Assist in the administration of medication
HSC 222 Support individuals prior to, during and after clinical procedures
HSC 224 Observe, monitor and record the conditions of individuals
HSC 230 Manage environments and resources during clinical activities
SCQF Credit Rating & Level:
The SCQF levelling information will be added to this Skills Set when it becomes available.

Assessment:
The units in this skills set must be assessed in accordance with the SVQ assessment guidance published SQA/City & Guilds for the SVQs in Health & Social Care.
