Fitness to Practise and Registration Rules

The Fitness to Practise Rules set out how we will investigate and hold hearings about allegations of impairment against workers. The Registration Rules set out the form of the Register, the way that workers join and are removed from the Register, fees and post registration training and learning (PRTL) arrangements.

SSSC (Fitness to Practise) Rules 2016

The SSSC (Fitness to Practise) Rules 2016 revoke the SSSC (Conduct) Rules 2013 and apply to all fitness to practise cases unless a worker has been referred to a hearing before 1 November 2016 or has been invited to accept a sanction as at 1 November 2016.

SSSC (Registration) (Amendment) Rules 2017

This amendment to the SSSC (Registration) (No.2) Rules 2016 sets out the new fees for registration. The new fees come into force on 1 September 2017. Other than fees, the existing rules are unchanged.

SSSC (Registration) (No.2) Rules 2016

The SSSC (Registration) (No.2) Rules 2016 revoke the SSSC (Registration) Rules 2016 and apply to applications for registration or renewals of registration submitted on or after 1 November 2016, or submitted before 1 November 2016 but where the SSSC is not satisfied about the good character, conduct and competence of the worker.

The SSSC (Registration) Rules 2016 continue to apply to applications for registration or renewals of registration submitted before 1 November 2016 where any of the following apply:

  • the SSSC is satisfied about the good character, conduct and competence of the worker
  • registration conditions have been accepted by the worker but not applied by 1 November 2016
  • where a case has been referred to a Registration Sub-committee before 1 November 2016.
