Do you work with young people and children in looked after services like residential services?

We asked Who Cares? Scotland to work with us to help promote the Code that all social service workers work to young people in residential care. That way they know about the standards and behaviour they can expect from social service workers.

We worked with a group of young people from Glasgow and Dundee who wanted a character that they and other young people could relate to. They felt that knowing about the SSSC Code would give them confidence in their workers and that this confidence would be represented by their character, a robot called C.O.D.Y. They also looked at different scenarios so that they could help young people see how the SSSC Code works in their day-to-day lives.

We developed the website as a learning resource for both young people and social service workers. Find out more about the SSSC and registration on the SSSC website.

Resources

There are short videos available online and on DVD which are examples of ordinary situations to show how the SSSC Code of Practice is applied on a daily basis. We’ve also produced a booklet for workers to use alongside the videos. And there are posters, postcards, mini leaflets available to put up and hand out.
