Scottish Social Services Council

Leadership and Management for Care

The SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) is the first
UK awarding body to develop the newly revised Registered Managers Award (RMA) standards, now called Leadership and Management for Care (LMC) into a qualification.

This qualification has been credit rated and levelled at Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework (SCQF) level 10. SQA and the SSSC are launching the awards at three events in April 2008 in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

The LMC is an important step in supporting leadership in the social services sector. This new award replaces the RMA but the SSSC will continue to accept the RMA for the management part for registration with the SSSC for managers in residential child care, care home services for adults, adult day care, day care of children, housing support and school care accommodation. Managers would also require a practitioner qualification for registration.
