Care Accolades 2009
The Care Accolades was launched in 2004 to celebrate and promote good practice and workforce development in social services. It is open to teams working in social work, social care, children and young people's services throughout Scotland.
Winners of Scotland's top awards for social services announced - 5 June 2009
The winners of Scotland’s national Care Accolades awards were announced today (5 June 2009) at a ceremony held at the Caird Hall, Dundee. TV presenter, Kaye Adams hosted the event which recognises best practice throughout the social service sector.
Over 200 representatives from across the social services sector gathered for the Care Accolades 2009 ceremony which is a joint initiative by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and the Scottish Government.
Launched in 2004, the Care Accolades recognises, promotes and celebrates the outstanding initiatives and projects in social services across Scotland. Guests at the Care Accolades included people who use social services, carers and workers from the public, private and voluntary social service sector.
This year the SSSC received a record 156 entries from local authority, voluntary and private social service agencies across Scotland. Nineteen finalists were selected by the judging panel for each of the seven categories.
The winners for the 2009 awards are:
Best initiative for workforce investment
Dumfries and Galloway Council, Social Work – Studentship/sponsorship Scheme
Best partnership working in adult care services
Implementation of the Liverpool care pathway - BUPA with partner organisations
Best partnership working in early years and young people services
Intensive Support and Monitoring Service (ISMS) - Glasgow City Council with partner organisations
A special commendation was awarded to the Triple P project - Orkney Islands Childcare Partnership with partner organisations
Best innovative training programme
Dundee City Council, Social Work Department – VIG Development Team
A special commendation was awarded to the Highland Council, Social Work Service - Getting Ready for Grading
Best involvement of the local community
East Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) – Pathways to Progression
Best leading on learning programme
North Lanarkshire Council – Assessment, Planning and Reflective Practice Programme
Best social service team or unit in Scotland
Cornerstone – Forensic Services in Aberdeen
Overall winner
