Shortlist announced for 2007 Care Accolades - the “Oscars” for the social service sector
A diverse range of innovative social service projects and organisations have made the shortlist for Care Accolades 2007, the “Oscars” for the sector in Scotland.
Now in its fourth year, the Care Accolades, organised by the SSSC in partnership with the Scottish Executive, is Scotland’s only established awards ceremony for the social service sector. The prestigious and highly regarded event is open to social work, social care and early education and child care organisations in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors.
The awards ceremony highlights and promotes good practice and innovation. Care Accolades are awarded to outstanding employers/organisations who:
- have policies in place that retain and support staff
- involve people who use services and carers
- provide examples of excellence in partnership/integrated working
- implement innovative training programmes.
The Care Accolades 2007 reception and lunchtime ceremony will be held on 8 June at The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, hosted by TV presenter Kaye Adams.
Morag Alexander, Convener of the SSSC and Chair of the judging panel commented:
“We are delighted with the calibre of entries to the Care Accolades this year. Choosing a shortlist is always difficult when the standard of entries is good but the finalists really shone in terms of innovation, long term potential and outstanding practice.
“The Care Accolades is an increasingly important event which provides the sector with the opportunity to promote an exciting range of projects and excellent, effective work. It offers real recognition for those organisations delivering vital services to people in communities across Scotland everyday.”

An overall winner will be announced on the day from the winners of all the categories.
